I repurposed a print maxi skirt into a swingy scoop top for fall, using a TNT pattern. Alas, it turned out tight, having less stretch than needed. Managed to save it by inserting bands of lace down the front and back centers and sleeves, making it look like a natural design element. (3 yards of 2 1/4 " wide stretch lace on sale at HL for $2.)
This works in shoulder areas too if you don't have enough fabric length. Add some lace in front or back--like a yoke.

Congrats on the fix. Some of my most memorable garments are ones I thought were ruined but finally figured out a way to make it work. I bought a serger and tried to serger my toddler son's shirt--I didn't have the hang of serging curves and cut right through the front. I made a little "gun flap" and covered it up. When I see his pictures of him in that top I am proud of myself.

Often I just let the problem sit in the back of my mind and then the solution pops out--amazing how your brain is thinking in the background.

You did good!

Neat use of lace here. And may I add another idea?

The first time I used my serger on a garment I serged through and cut off the pants pockets. But, I found the pants fit better by changing the back of the pants to the front. (You know, tummy.)
