clever technique of rolling the fashion fabric inside to avoid handstitching (Moderated by Deepika)
Posted on: 10/25/17 2:09 PM ET
I think it was on Patternreview that somebody posted a link not long ago to a very clever video tutorial of how to line a sleeveless bodice, eliminating all or most handstitching. It involved rolling the fashion fabric inward and turning it back out through the waist or something like that. Neckline, armholes and zipper opening were all machine-stitched.
I lost the link.
I am not giving you much to work with, sorry. Who is much smarter than me and know what it is I am talking about and could point me to the video?
Thank you.
Claudia

I posted this a few weeks ago in the Tips section. So if you lose it again, just look there! It's pretty amazing, isn't it? I was so happy when I found it! It's so easy!

Little strokes fell great oaks. On the other hand, go big or go home!
Projects completed in 2024: 3 pairs gloves. Four pairs of jeans. Five custom tarps. A dozen linen hankies. A wool wrap for a friend. Four linen bath towels and 24 washcloths. Two bed pillows.
38.5 yards of fabric out.

I have that facing video saved too, but I have another one saved that is for the whole lining. It says you must have a pattern with a front or back seam plus side seams (total 3 seams) though. All-Machine Clean-Finish Sleeveless Bodice Lining Technique Tutorial
If your bodice has only front and back pieces, you might consider underlining instead of lining. It's very easy because you are treating the lining fabric and fashion fabric as one. I've had good results with underlining, the times I've tried it.
