Good evening everyone :)
I have a Brother CV3440 coming sometime soon. I'd like to prepare a nice little nest for her for when she arrives. Can anyone suggest some "must-haves" to have on hand so I can start playing right away?
I already have some Organ ballpoint needles, a couple of spools of wooly nylon and regular serger thread. My first projects will probably use cotton interlock and cotton lycra. What else should I order to make sure I can get started finding her sweet spot when she gets here?
TIA!

Not a necessity , but a tip I read somewhere that proved useful to me in the beginning: Get a clip on LED light , like a book light, ( my battery powered one was like 3$ at Ikea) and shine it from underneath your hem so you can see the edge of your hem. It really helps when you are trying to keep your cover stitching actually covering the edge of the fabric .

I have the CV3550 and love it! It's very easy to use. Threads up so well and it's really ready to go right out of the box. Just have a pattern and fabric ready to go!
Oh, the one thing notion I would have on hand is RNK Stitch Perfection Tape. It's a water soluble stabilizer for things like hems and washes out really well without leaving stiffness.

Download the CV3440 User Manual & read it through a few times to familiarise yourself with the machine & its operation. When it arrives I suggest you play with a pile of fabric scraps of different weights/types & see how the machine performs. Keep notes of any sweet spot tension/foot pressure/needle/thread settings.
Not necessary but does make life easier for lots of hemming jobs is double sided fusible web. It's so thin you don't notice it in the hem even on the finest knits. I was cutting up double sided web meterage into 1cm strips but recently have bought 5 x 91m pre cut rolls from this Aliexpress seller.
Enjoy your new machine!

When you receive your CS machine, open the manual and while sitting in front of the machine, read and apply.
You will soon have the technique mastered.
Best wishes for many fun projects.

Linda,
I bought it at a local sewing store, but it's available online.
Since I initially posted I have discovered Soft Stretch and it is fantastic for hems! I have used it on about 4 projects, and the hems stay soft and subtle with stretch. It's a little more readily available. I buy it at Hobby Lobby, but it's also at JoAnn and other sewing outlets.
