Good for you! I’m in the group that has paid the stupid money for it on eBay, lol, so glad to see someone have a good -deal experience.

My sewing machine (Viking) makes functional eyelets, and I've used them to make corsets, so I can understand why you'd pay extra for exactly this feature!
I also have a Greist buttonholer, but can't recall if it has the eyelet plate or not (I think yes), but it's the one thing I DON'T actually need it for, thanks to the Viking. (Which makes abysmal buttonholes and doesn't fit the Greist!)
Still refining my buttonholing setup. LOL

I have $15in the set of 8 templates . Most of my sewing is done on 70's white machine's. I have 2 white model 782 that are my go to machines they along with others I have are 4 step button holes . I have 2 machines with 1 step button hole. I still do button holes on a 66 hand crank with the Giest attachment

Interesting to know that there is an eyelet template. I will have to watch for that, but when I need eyelets, I often use the attachment for my Janome that stitches circles. I think it is called an eyelet maker.... NOPE! Flower stitch attachment. ;-)

If it can be done with a needle and thread, I can do it!

There's a place that has a plastic reproduction of the eyelet cam Here.
I have not bought one, or seen one, so I'm not real sure how good the plastic is that it's made of, but of course it can't be as good as the die-cast metal part that was original. That said, it very well might be good enough to last for years of normal occasional use. I'm going to get one sometime, I'm sure. I have no association with the seller.

A sewing machine is just a welder for textiles.

Not long ago I found a vintage set of supplemental templates that were plastic! Surprised me, but there they were in an authentic ‘60s Singer box, with that authentic black plastic of the time that I don’t know how to describe other than “‘60s, not ‘80s”. So at least plastic was approved for use back when the buttonholers were current tech.
Fortunately both of my Kenmore buttonholers have an eyelet option as standard, and one is metal. The plastic one did have the bright idea of loading several buttonhole types onto one card, making bigger and less easy-to-lose templates.

Yay for you! I got one recently, for my Singer buttonholer. I was selling a Featherweight on CL, and an elderly gentlemen contacted me and asked if I'd take some old Singer attachments in trade for part of the price. When I saw the eyelet cam among the offerings, I agreed. So I got my long sought-after cam, and sold the rest of the stuff so I ended up coming out ahead. :)

I bought a plastic reproduction one several years ago and it works perfectly. I now have a genuine vintage metal one (at last!) but the plastic one works every bit as well.

I recently got one of those flower stitch attachments and it isn't as great as I expected. I'll have to play with it some more, I guess.
It does make an eyelet if you set it on the smallest circle. However, the big difference is that it spins the fabric around to make it which may be awkward depending on what you're putting it on. The eyelet cam on the buttonholer attachment keeps the fabric in one spot and just moves it back and forth to make the eyelet so it is a little easier to get it in exactly the right place.
