I cut the bodice back 2 1/2 inches too short. Border print, I took forever laying things out and matching prints across seams. My usual plaintiff: "I don't know how it happened". Know whut? I'm adding a 2 1/2 inch strip to the back bodice. It's a loose shirtdress, so maybe it's "bunchy" enough to hide the seam.

Been there, done that. If you don't call attention to the "mistake", trust me, no one will ever know.
That half circle appliquéd at the center front of the dress right above the hem ruffle seam? Yeah, that's a design feature, it is not a fix for snipping a huge hole in the dress while trimming the seam at 3 am.
This reminds me of a Julia Child French Chef episode from the early 1970s. The episode was about how to fix a recipe that has gone wrong.
Rule #1 for cooking:
Never tell your guests what the dish was SUPPOSED to be. Just, fix it, make up a new name, and serve it.
Rule #1 for sewing:
Never point out your mistakes to anyone who views or admires your project. Just say "Thank You." and smile.

Hysterical! This maybe anecdotal, but I once read a quote from her about keeping mum. She (supposedly) said:
"Don't say anything. You're guests will never know that that exotic flavor they can't identify is that you just burned it."

Don’t tell anyone that the flowers that were appliquéd on my wedding dress (which was my mother’s) were really covering up the mildew stains.
