My serger does not have the option of a teflon foot. I'm serging lunch bags using clear PUL as the lining. I try wherever I can to serge with the PUL on top and fabric against the feed dogs. But there are areas where I cannot avoid the PUL coming in contact with the feed dogs and under my foot. This is when it sticks like crazy. Does anyone have any tricks to feed this through my serger without sticking? Thank you.

I have never sewn with this fabric before so I can't give you first hand advice.
What if you were to put tissue paper under the PUL and against the feed dogs? The tissue paper can then be torn off and discarded. Another thought is wash away stabiliser in place of the tissue paper.

A wash-way seems to be the best idea.

Thank you, I'll try the wash away stabiliser. I'm making tons of lunch bags for sale at the craft markets so I'm trying to go as quick as I can and keep my costs down. Is wash away stabiliser expensive?

Before I had a Teflon presser foot, I bought self adhesive Teflon tape at a local sewing machine dealer, then stuck a piece on the bottom of any presser feet I wanted to use when sewing difficult materials.

Yeah... but... I've heard you can dissolve the washaway in water (instead of rinsing it in the sink), and then reuse it, somehow (like a paste you brush on?)
Tissue paper was my thought, as well. Or baking parchment. Freezer paper?
Oooh, here are some good tips for sewing sticky vinyl, including a cheap alternative to a Teflon foot that might help!

I have used really cheap toilet paper ... the kind that dissolves easily in water, ( you can test it by putting a few squares in a glass of water). If any remnants remain after you tear it away, sponge away with water. Warning: Test first, because serger stitching may not let go of the tissue fragments easily enough! Washawsy is probably your best bet, but I wanted to offer a possible cheaper alternative. I have only used the toilet paper with regular sewing machine.

Try taking the foot off the machine and covering the sole with Scotch Magic Transparent Tape or whatever the local "frosty" equivalent is. Trim to the outline of the foot. That usually has enough texture to keep plastics moving. And if it doesn't work, you're not out much.

Thank you so much. I love those ideas in the link you provided. I think the Teflon tape stuck under the pressure foot would be the most cost effective method and the quickest too. I'm going off to try it. Thanks again.

Thanks kayl, going to try the various suggestions here. I was tearing my hair out when this happened.
