Greatings!

I am working on the Sense & Sensibility Regency gown with short sleeves, and I'm a bit puzzled by the instructions for the cuffs. I have gathered the bottom of a sleeve and attached the cuffs. The next instruction is to close the bottom seam, then turn up 1/4" and press. Next, it says to gather and attach the sleeve to the bodice.

Clearly, a step stitching the raw end of the cuff is missing. But perhaps more than one step is?

If I just fold 1/4 inch, I will have lots of ugly seam ends showing.

Suggestions?

After some thought, some dinner, and some mystery television, I decided that the instructions were just missing folding the band and stitching it down. I had expected a wider band/cuff, but the result seems to match the pictures I've seen online. :-)

The cuff is meant to be rather narrow. I cheated. I serged the raw edge; turned it up to the inside and stitched in the ditch from the front. Lots of pins. I've made this for both daughter and I who have very fleshy arms so it fits snug and doesn't show.
