I'm sure most of you know this but if you don't here goes. I received an email requesting my personal information on my Paypal account. Of course I didn't fall for it because Paypal, Ebay, or banks NEVER request personal information via emails. These scumbags setup phony sites and send out emails requesting personal information and always stating urgency. BEWARE these are scammers trying to get your personal info.

I actually had a scammer setup their phony retrieval site on my website. They somehow got in the back door and used my site to setup shop. They were sending out emails trying to obtain personal banking information from naive people. I had to work with the banks security people to shut these scumbags down.

So if you do receive an email requesting your personal information forward it to the company as they must know this is going on.

I just received one this week, AGAIN. This happens all the time. We just have to be smart enough to know they are, as they call it, Phishing. The last one I received was an Ebay scam. Ship anything you like this, immediately, to the appropriate organization. Both Paypal and Ebay have departments that handle this.

I forward the ebay "spoof" to [email protected] and the Paypal ones to [email protected].

Then I delete delete delete! I delete the deleted list too and the delete the forwarded message from the messages sent. That way they're all gone!

I always get a message that it's fake from the appropriate spoof center.

If there is a real emergency problem with paypal, ebay or a bank account, the message from them says to go to the "official" web site to retreive message!

But be sure to go to the site YOU have listed for eBay or Paypal. Scammers can set up look-alike sites and include a link to them in the email they send.

Scammers are watching ebay activity very closely. When I was in the market for my 10001 I bid on several before I won mine. I got alot of fake "second chance" emails after a couple of the auctions ended. They were very obviously fake because the were never from the legitimate seller of the item and all but one of them was from overseas. I got several messages from ebay warning me about these after I had received them. They followed the fake ones by about 2 days. I can see how a naive person could easily fall for this type of scam. Those poor ebay security guys must be working overtime to try to keep up with this.
