Apparently have been using some wrong things on them like citrus. We've always had previously-owned homes so didn't get any paperwork. Now some are going to non-glare ones like Corian and quartz. We have black/tan/grey mottled up to the backsplash, not a fave which can look smeary.
What do you use daily besides soap and water?
Have you ever re-sealed yours (recommended yearly) and which product?

About once a week I use Method Granite Cleaner because it makes my dark granite shine. In between cleanings I use whatever Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day I have around.

Oh I like Meyer's Basil scent, sometimes it's hard to find. The lemon--info noted that vinegar, citrus, windex, wipes like Lysol etc. are not good for granite, but rubbing alcohol with dish soap OK. So now I'll need granite and fixture ones in kitchen and baths. I have a specific cleaner for stainless steal (hate) fridge and DW, but the multi-times daily chore of those "garage/snacking" fingerprints gets a microfiber swipe.

I have the Basil and when I can find it, the Peony. I have used Lemon occasionally and the granite still looks fine.

One should never use harsh chemicals or acidic cleaners (like vinegar or citrus solvents) on granite--they can etch and scratch the surface and cause a lot of damage. The greatest cleaner I've found is also inexpensive.

Get a 32-oz spray bottle, put in 4 ounces (1/4 cup) isopropyl alcohol, add a couple drops of liquid dish detergent and fill to the top with water. Works great, and leaves behind a nice shine.

I'm a big fan of making my own cleaners when they are effective and easy to make, like window cleaner, and this granite cleaning solution is not only hugely effective it is cheap, cheap, cheap!

So the alcohol is enough germ-killing? Someone here is beyond cleaning up crumbs etc.......

Most of the kitchen messes from cooking or simple meal prep like breakfast or lunch don't really require a germ-killer so the alcohol is enough for me. I try to keep potential contaminants off the counters - things like raw meat, raw poultry or raw fish juices - and if they do soil the counter it gets spot-cleaned immediately. I use the spray for task cleanup if necessary, when plain hot water won't do the trick, as well as a wipe down at the end of the day with a wet dishcloth or sponge followed by a wipe down with my cleaner spray. We do try to tidy up after ourselves throughout the day.

I've used this same cleaner formula for years on all surfaces in our house including the granite. Our 12 year-old granite still looks almost new. It's great for mirrors, spills, pet accidents. Once when our granite was new, I sealed it with a spray cleaner/sealant I got from either the grocery store or home improvement store. My intention was to use it a couple of times a year but life gets in the way and I don't think I've ever done that again. The alcohol cleaner is pretty amazing!!

CeceC, so glad to read that after 12 years your granite still looks like new using the DIY cleaner! When I read the ingredients of the granite cleaner and polish at home depot and saw that the first ingredient listed was alcohol I knew I could do as good at home for way less $$ and fewer chemicals. It is a good all purpose cleaner like you said, but I still prefer my DIY window cleaner on glass surfaces.
