short waist, pants fitting, and absence of collapsible shoulders (Moderated by Sharon1952)

If you have experience with this form or similar (the partial leg form that is offset on the pole)
–
Can you tell me if you miss not having a collapsible shoulders feature?
And if you think it is doable to raise the waist line by about an inch and still maintain the lower body functionality for pants.
Can the crotch be lowered to fit pants?
How much does it weigh - ow awkward is it to put pants on -remove it from stand, put the pants over the pole, and reattach.
My vertical trunk torso measurement is about 1.5" longer than the size 2 form measurement (58" vs 56.5" ) but my front and back waist are .5 and 1" shorter than the form, so I will have to raise the (tiny) waist and widen it a lot. I have a conversely long rise, and would need to increase the front+back rise by 1.5" I am generally 1.5" to 4" larger in all circumference measurements, and my "mature" bust would need to drop maybe an inch and widen at the apex.
I will will also need to wide the shoulders from 4.5 to 5".
Are any of these deal breakers and are they largely doable with the Fab Fit padding system and some cotton quilt batting? Other suggestions? I really want to be able to work on tops and pants although I know I will have to do some pants fitting on me to account for movement. Thanks for any help!

I ended up with a PGM https://www.pgmdressform.com/Dress-Forms-Collapsible-Shoulder-PGM-Female-Half-Body-Dress-Forms-USA
I have struggled with padding it because the collapsible shoulders mechanism seem to make the overbust larger than mine and that measurement was not on the chart. And despite being smaller than all my circumference measurements, the form seems wider than me front to back in the hip area.
It is a nice form, I just think I needed to go multiple size smaller than me, rather than 1-2. And I got it just as the pandemic hit and didn’t devote much time to it. “Make it work” is on my to do list - especially as a few extra pounds may make it closer. Although over bust is a hard one to finess.
My PR notifications are funky so sorry I missed this post.

Thanks for replying.
Did you order the size based on your full bust-waist-hips?
Or based on your upper bust (under arm circumference)?
I too am struggling with the dress form measurement charts as none include the upper bust. So I am thinking a neck and shoulder width measurement might result in a dress form that I can pad up in the other areas to reflect my shape.
The charts don't give "caliper" dimensions either. My old Dritz form couldn't be made small enough in the hips to match the "width" distance you posted about. I can see why a much smaller size dress form would be better for that problem.
I started a discussion here a couple of days ago and some posts offer great ideas and links about padding to make the form a double of your body.
I bet the smaller forms also have narrower "front to back" hips. If yours isn't padded yet, can you tell me what size form you got and what that front to measurement is?

Shoot, I’m traveling for the next week or so. I bought a size 4. It is partially padded, but I was going to strip and start again. I’ll measure when I get home.

OK - I'm finally home and able to measure. I bought this form just before the pandemic hit - as memory serves it was based on the smallest size that was smaller than all of my measurements. I just stripped it and measured and below is a chart with the stated measurements from PGM, and my forms actual measurements, including some caliper width (side to side) and depth (front to back). As you can see, my measurements can vary by up to 3/4", generally larger than the PGM chart. To be fair, I may not have been measuring in exactly the same spot they do, but I tried very hard to keep my tape level and checked in a mirror.

Photo of the forms side view along side a rough sketch of my shape (pre pandemic!) which was a hysterical effort by DH and DD. I covered the form in Press and Seal before I bpadded it as I read somewhere on the PR forums that the Fabulor Fit pads could cause discoloration over time. Sure enough, when I stripped it, the pads had changed color in spots, but the form seems fine.

Here is a front view. I am going to take another stab at padding this and see how close I can get. I've gained a few pounds but my high bust is still a bit smaller than the form. I bought some interesting tools - a Hurth rule for the caliper, which seems more user friendly than my two L squares. If I'm not satisfied, I may sell it and try with something much smaller. But these forms have gone way up in price in the past few years - Hope this helps.
