I got this beautiful remnant from last year in 2 pieces - 1 yrd and other is hardly 1/4 yrd (do not know exact size, it is like enough for sleeves only)
It has eyelet embriordary on both sides.
Trying to find my options now.
Skirt yes but that 1/4 yrd will be wasted.
So then thought to make it gathered dress/ or top with bodice (from 1/4 yrd) and gathered bottom from 1 yrd.
1/4 yrds is not enough, moreover it has border on both sides, so if i cut align it in 2nd pic way, I may be able to get it.
Plan it - move the eyelet borders to front, sew a lining of coordinating color like white. I have similar chambray also to line it.
Join eyelet border to lining in the middle with 2 seams for 2 borders.
However, I am not sure if that border-join part will look good on front, or too over whelming. since border is quite wide.
Then as i will cut neckline, how should i manage scallops near neckline. Should i move this to the back instead and keep front plain.
I am thinking it to sew as dress for my daughter who is age 7(size 12 RTW). When I put bodice piece on her, scallop design in middle looked overwhelming.

I wonder if you could cut the fabric apart and make one piece using just the eyelet parts. I once made my daughter a dress with a layered silk eyelet. I was give 3 pieces of 12 inch eyelet in 3 shades of brown, which I sewed together. She was about your daughter's age. I am going to see if I can post it.

I have way too many yards to count, and I will never use them up, but I will die trying!

How wide is the fabric? Maybe if you first figured out exactly how much you need for the skirt length and width, you could cut enough plain fabric out of the middle and the middle of what is left over ( you might not need the entire 72 inches for the skirt , esp for a child) to make a bodice.

I have no idea. My daughter is nearly 35 now, and I didn't keep the pattern. Here is a free pattern here. But there are a lot of others out there, just search for "girls shift dress pattern".
