I still adore my Bosch dishwasher - thank you all! I have upgraded my stand mixer, can opener, microwave and got myself an Instant Pot (which is used ALL the time). Now I am considering the food processor, which is an incredible, but elderly Cuisinart. It is a French model from the 80's (!) and I know the motor will go on forever, but the bowl will crack eventually and I don't have the grater attachment etc.
So I'm not exactly in a hurry, but looking to get these kinds of things sorted out while still working and have more expendable income than when we eventually retire. What are everyone's best recommendations?

I think that co has replacement bowls and grating blades in stock. They also had a recall of earlier blades and will give you a sharp brand new one if you haven’t already replaced it. Their motors really are good, strong, and quieter than others.

Please don't give my elderly Cuisinart any ideas about retirement.

Whoops! My Cuisinart lived a long life about 20 + years. I had replaced the blade once and the bowl became cracked. The problem was I could not replace the bowl. MY DD bought me the Breville 16 cup processor for my Christmas present about 3 years ago and I have loved that thing every day since! The Breville has many small features that are a result of better design. I strongly recommend this machine -- go big for many years of enjoyment !!

I have a Robot Coupe from the early 80's which I believe was a predecessor of the Cuisinarts. I was able to replace the bowl once. I would suggest to prolong the life of the bowl, always wash by hand, Lexan does not react well to dishwashers. Over time, the plastic posts on some of the attachments have disintegrated. I did not attempt to replace as they were seldom used. The motors way back when were so powerful.

When the bowl to our Cuisinart broke/disintegrated, I looked into a replacement bowl. It was going to cost almost as much as a new one, so I bought a new Cuisinart. I've been very happy with it.

I had a Cuisinart food processor too that I liked. I went through several bowls. Finally one day I upgraded to the Breville 16 cup one. It takes up a lot of space and is heavy, but it's great! I recommend it!

Lynn Scott - yes, it is a Robot Coupe! My DD, who is a chef, freaked out when she saw it. "Mom! These are the BEST!" I got it for $11.49 at a thrift store.
I had to replace a blade once and got it from a very elderly gentleman who had a repair business in his basement. I suspect he is no longer in business. Our local parts dealer doesn't carry this brand and when I wrote to the company I got zero response. I do keep my eye out for them when I am thrift stores!
Same DD warned me about the dishwasher, so I have been very gentle with washing the bowl. It does inhibit me from using it from time to time, I admit.

the Breville 16 cup processor
Yes! This is the Breville sous-chef. It is expensive, but it was rated the best food processor by Consumer Reports. I have had mine for a couple of years now. I make almond and peanut butter in it regularly and use it every week to chop veggies. Love it.the Breville 16 cup processor
