I have a short kimono type (sleeve) top, already made up...and the shoulder slips to the back. Now I have learned it is a FS issue. Can this be adjusted now? I would hate to toss it out. Has anyone had success with this? Thank you in advance.

You can let out the back seam and take up the front. The minimum seam allowance is 1/4" so you can let out the back 3/8" and take up the front that same amount. Since the sleeves are short you can continue this for the entire seam or taper it. Try it first.

Are you absolutely certain it's a forward shoulder issue and not a high round back issue? Where is the neck edge of the shoulder seam sitting?

Great suggestion, thank you. I will give it a try!

GiButterfly, Sew Confused: thank you. I will try the 3/8 adjustments. Sew Confused- the neck edge of the shoulder is where it “should be”. I am hoping the GIButterfly idea will fix it...so at least it is wearable. It is a much beloved linen I postponed cutting into until I could do a better job!

You can angle that seam line so that the the shoulder seam stays in the correct position at your neck. You will add 3/8” to the back shoulder and subtract it from the front at the outside edge, angling to 5/8” at the neck. My lines are exaggerated in the sketch; hopefully it will be helpful anyway.

Thank you for the drawing. I wore the dress for half a day to “study” it. I think I may have to undo the neck also. I see a bug difference in my “real shoulder” and the one on the garment...it is so disappointing! Thankyou for the drawing.
