Seems this is extinct...... I don't have enough in my stash in color I need for the fleece blankets I'm doing... will just have to make due with regular, but just realized why my serged edges weren't as fuzzy as last time I made these (years ago).

Anyone know any comparable substitutes? I can find white but the product isn't even listed on the YLI site. Went there first looking for more of the white/gold I have stashed, but not enough, it's been there for many years.

A whole generation of sewing enthusiasts/sergers are going to miss out on this gem.

Can you run two or three strands through the loopers?

Hi Karen, when I'm not using stash thread, I buy from Superior Threads and have been very happy with their quality. They have two different weights of woolie-like thread that's polyester (not nylon). Polyarn and Prolock. I have one of them (don't know which one) and it works well in my regular sewing machine's overlock stitch. I have spools of their "all-purpose" OMNI thread in black & white that meets my needs for most garment construction (sadly that's discontinued). HTH!
Edited to add - I now noticed that they have discontinued their Prolock line. 8,500 yd jumbo cones are going for $3.50 each, if you want to take the gamble

I just bought a bunch of Maxi-Lock Stretch thread for my cover stitch and it is just like woolly nylon. Would that work?

Red Rock Threads has many colors available. I am not sure if they have the color you are searching for.

YLI Wooly Nylon at Red Rock Threads

YLI (the manufacturer of Woolly Nylon) also has some colors available, but many colors are sold out.

Wawak has a selection too. I order serger threads from them. Shipping is fast.

I have seraflock, which is Mettler's version of wooly nylon. for some reason Mettler seems hard to get around my area now but I prefer Metter, threads for the overlocker I almost always use serafil for everyday and added seraflock to the stash.

JoAnns sells a Gutermann brand wooly nylon. I can't remember what it's called but it's not wooly nylon. That might be why you can't find it. I have several spools but the wrapper is off.

Running an extra strand through loooers would work, but as noted the problem is I don’t have enough to begin with with just one thread! I do in red (but not the WN extra, none of the Joann’s brand in that so just making that itch length even shorter). I bought the Joann brand today for the other color, had to give up my vision of the YLI white/gold. Will test it out tomorrow.

Thanks for the other sources and their versions. I don’t t think I’ll try them this year, have to get these done and in the Mail if I don’t want to carry them on plane. But will keep them in mind for next. I’d never imagined I had less then I thought it that the stuff I’d been buying for years would be unattainable!
