Today I found some "Stretch Grosgrain Ribbon" at Hancock Fabrics. It is really elastic if you ask me, but in 16 colors. I want to use it for the leg/waist elastic in some panties for DD but was unsure if it will work okay. I bought some white knit with lime green dots and spme of the lime green 'ribbon', but wanted to know if anyone has sucessfully used this yet.

OOOH, I don't have this but now I'm really interested! Was this over in their ribbon section (I think our Hancock's only carries ribbon that is sold 'by the yard')? How much did you have to pay for it?

I saw that ribbon for the first time a few weeks ago. It seems to have very good recovery, but I think using it for panties might be risky. It's not as soft as lingerie elastic, it might not retain its elasticity if it's washed as frequently as panties get worn and washed, and I'd be hesitant about how comfortable it would be for that application. However - it sure would look cute, wouldn't it?

Wondering if it would be a good substitute for a petersham waist facing in a stretch woven skirt.

It was in the ribbon section, but obscure. I wouldn't have seen it except the lime color caught my eye. I paid $1/yd. Tonight I found it here J Creative for $.88 of course with shipping its probably about the same.

I just saw this stuff today! It's only $1 a yard and there's about a dozen bright colors. It's folded so it's good for finishing an edge. If someone uses it, please review!!!!

I thought I'd bump this to the top. I just noticed the stretch grosgrain today at Hancock Fabrics -- so I'm a little slow -- like two years. So has anyone used it yet? What were the results? The first thing that came to mind was to use to as elastic for a waistband of a very light weight skirt.

I look at that ribbon everytime I go to Hancocks but I still haven't figured out how to use it.

I loved it when I saw it, bought it in several colors, and preshrank it. It now ripples. Yup. Looks like a highway after a major earthquake. I'm afraid it will force any fabric it's stitched to into the same hills and valleys. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
