worth the expense (Moderated by Sharon1952)

I would like to buy snap tape in bulk for some projects I'm working on. Create for Less dot com sells it in packages for about $4 for 18''. Is that a good price? I'd like to buy it bulk so I can cut it myself, but it's so expensive.
Has anyone found a good source for buying snap tape? I might wait for a discount coupon at Jo Anns and go in and buy it all up like I do with interfacing, etc.
Thanks!

I have kept a supply of snap tape in my sewing room for years.....I can't remember what I normally pay for it, but it isn't $8 per yard. Whenever I see it on sale I get a couple of yards. I works great in baby outfits for the snap crotch, comes in handy as a close mechanism for tote bags, camera bags and the like. Since I use it on small projects a little goes a long way.
I was very frustrated with applied snaps in baby clothes pulling out so I gave it try -- and it works great. But make sure you rethink the crotch seam allowance -- I always cut the crotch with an extra 1/2 to a full inch and then trim to what I need to allow for finishing with the tape.

Joanns usually has white, black and navy snaptape by the yard, right by the nylon webbing etc (underneath the notions wall usually). Much cheaper than the pre-packaged stuff, I believe it's about $5-6/yd full price. Use a coupon, and it becomes WAY cheaper, lol! I got a few yds that way when I first started making babyclothes, still have some left but it was well worth the $$ I paid. hth!
