Is there an easy way to frogstitch a coverstitch hem? I'm trying to remove hems from a pair of stretch denim pants and it's taking forever.

Thank you!

I have found a method that works on at least some RTW cover stitch. I'll attempt to describe it.

Hold the hem so the body of the garment is closest to you and the edge is up.

Find where the hem starts and stops-usually at a seam.
On the left side of the end of the hem, pick out 2-3 stitches from the right side on each line of stitching.

Turn the hem to the wrong side--there should be a length of thread loose on the back side of the stitches you just unpicked. Cut it close to the seam and pull.

This should pull out similar to a chain stitch. Sometimes it takes a little tug on the double threads on the right side to keep things moving.

Where the stitches overlap at the beginning/end of the original hem you will probably have to pick them out with a seam ripper, but its usually not very many stitches.

If I could draw, diagrams might make it easier. If this doesn't make sense, I'll attempt pictures.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the tip. I'll have to try it , too. It would be nice if it was so easy.
