I have a TNT shirt pattern that was designed for stretch wovens ideally with 3% lycra. I have no idea what that would equate to in %stretch though! I really like this shirt and would like to make it up in non-stretch material, should I just cut larger SA and wing it?, go up a size? 2? Any info would be appreciated!

Lisette, since it's a TNT, I assume you have 1 or more of these done. Measure the finished product in a few strategic areas - width at the bust level, shoulder width, etc - and compare the measurements to non-stretch blouses you like. I don't think there's much "magic" in the draft for "stretch wovens only" - just a little less ease. If I were to make a blind guess, I'd think going up 1/2 size would probably be about right. After all, the stretch is there for comfort, so all you really need to add is a speck of ease to make wearing the non-stretch version comfortable.

Thanks, Karla! Its the Petite Plus shapely shirt and I do have a bunch of them. I was also thinking that Kathleen is so good about answering questions that I may just email her too.

Is it pullover ? If it is then you might have a problem with the nack (too small) and also to "pull it over"" when you wear it.

You know, rethinking.....I think maybe I'd just cut the usual size, Lisette, with slightly wider sideseam allowances and sleeve seam allowances. That will leave you enough fabric to make the shirt slightly roomier if needed, without changing the horizontal seam(s).

Here's what I'd do. Try on the PP versions you've already made with stretch wovens. Study them on you. Is the Lycra actually making it fit better somewhere? Or is the Lycra just a comfort feature? If the former, then allow extra ease/seam allowance in that area.

Also, keep in mind that one of the reasons you may love this shirt so much is precisely because of the Lycra factor.
