Any tricks? (Moderated by Deepika)

I'm making a bias cut skirt with a zipper that is lined. When I tack the lining to the zipper I get really bad pulling on the garment. Releasing the lining from the zipper allows the garment to hang correctly, without pulls. This has happened to me before as well with other garments.
Am I doing something wrong or are bias, zippers and lining an impossible combination?

Putting your bias skirt with the zipper inside out on your dressform and attach the lining by hand will help you get a smooth fit.If you do not want to sew the lining to the zipper tape by hand , baste the lining at the zipper tape and remove the skirt from your dress form and sew the lining by machine.

I've bought bias garments in which the lining was not attached to the zipper at all. It was just finished with a narrow hem along the edges where the zipper would go and a thread chain attached the bottom of the lining opening to the garment seam at the bottom of the zipper. I always wondered why; now it seems apparent that the manufacturer was avoiding the very problems you've had.

Well, I'm glad to hear the pros have this problem too!
What they do is what I did on my first encounter with this problem (sans the chain stitch to the zipper.)
If Els idea doesn't work, I'll do this. One think that might be a good idea in the future is to make the seam allowance on the lining zipper area at least 1 inch (maybe even 1.5 inches) for extra wiggle room.

I have done the same finnishing like your rtw garments on a lined bias skirt. The possitive side is you are able to iron or press the skirt inside out with the lining not interfering. I used lightweight double sided seam tape to fuse the seam allowances from the lining zipper part.
