So, I have this conviction that living in the 3rd largest city in the country, I SHOULD be able to locate any magazine that strikes my fancy somewhere in town.

Not so with the Burda Plus issue that published in March. It never showed up at any of the Borders' stores that are on my regular routes-- not even downtown in the Loop, which has a huge magazine section and used to carry Ottobre, Burda, etc. but seems not to anymore.

It hasn't been at Vogue Fabrics on any of my trips there in the last few months. (May JUST showed up there last week) I checked the two big newsstands with lots of international mags--no luck. JoAnne's doesn't seem to carry it either. (I did find an issue of Australian Stitches there recently, but never any Burda Magazines.) Hancock's here doesn't even carry Threads anymore...The German neighborhood near me was a wash...

So, I broke down and ordered from GLP last week...and got a message today that they are out of it, too...

Anyone know of another source?

There's some on ebay right now. The Twisletop Shop has them.

You can call GLP News and ask them who in your area they provide copies to. That's what I did. I found three places within 50 miles of me who has received copies of the Burda Plus. I never did get to them to see if they had copies left because GLP News got a few more copies in. It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask.

Oooh, thanks for the idea Sherril! I'd love to know where I can get either kind of Burda locally.

Thanks, all.

I did email the woman at GLP who emailed me to tell me my order had been cancelled to ask who their Chicago accounts are that might have it. I just refuse to believe their sales manager would allow Chicago - we ARE famously, the "fattest" big city in the country- to be passed over in their distribution efforts. (Maybe I need to apply for THAT job. They've done a terrible job of marketing and fulfillment here.) She was already gone for the weekend, by the time I emailed her, so I'll need to wait until Monday

I also found the Ebay dealer - and actually might go that route, even though she is in the UK--she still has copies of the issue with that famous twist top and I asked her if she has one of the last Fall/Winter issue--On an old thread here there were still live links to pics of some really "me" designs from that issue.

I've ordered from Twistletops and she is great to work with. She felt bad about an order getting sent out late so she added a copy of the fall(with the petiteplus wardrobe) It all go here faster than some stuff I order from amazon.

I'll add in another testimonial for Twistletops... although the shipping from UK is pretty high, my magazines got here pretty quickly and I got a timely response to my questions from her.

Of course it was in a post by you, my fashion-sister, that I saw pics from the fall/winter issue that convinced me I must find that one, too.

Very cool "wardrobe" with a slouchy, rounded jacket with a single, large button near the bodice--the wardrobe was shown in taupe, black & white...which I am sure had something to do with it's initial appeal. Looked like it was all in crepe or matte jersey.

It is all very easy fitting and comfy! Very Eileen Fisher! Burda shows them made in crepe, I did mine in what I now think is a rayon weave and they are fabulous. The pants I have done in everything from a knit to a poly-silky for pajamas. They go together super quick. I need to finish the sewing room re-org and then make up some of that stuff. I have nothing to wear for summer and I have been planning all this fall stuff

Score!!!

She DID have the Fall/winter issue lurking somewhere among her wares and is sending it along with the current one and the famous "twist top" issue from last April.

Can't wait to get a better look at that jacket pattern--even in this heat and humidity.

I feel better dressed already!

She is a lovely person to meet via email, too.
