If you are going to underline a lacy stretch top, what kind of fabric is used? A microfiber? Does anyone have an online shop where they buy it? I just boughta top today and it was underlined in a very sheer stretch type of fabric. I have many projects and fabrics lined up that will need knit lining.

I would use a plain knit fabric with similar stretch, I haven't seen stretch knit microfiber, so I can't really say if it would work.
Spandex House has a lot of different kinds of stretch knits in a wide assortment of plain colors. I don't have the link on this computer, but maybe someone will chime in?
I haven't ordered from them yet but definitely plan to. I have a couple of pieces of triple mesh that need an underlayer when made into tops.

Jill,
I see that you are in IL. I have bought tons of what is labelled "action" knit in various colors to use for lining other knits off the sale tables at the two Hancocks nearest me in Chicago lately. Dirt cheap. Some of it looks like it was meant to be lingerie knits to begin with--in beiges, peaches, navy, black, pale pink, white, etc. It's perfect. Great stretch and recovery and very lightweight and slick enough for the fashion fabric to slide over. They've also had some pale meshes that work pretty well under other meshes and lace.
If you happen to be in Chicago, the store on North Broadway has a huge sale table in the back with tons of the stuff on it. Ashland Ave's table is smaller.

I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine... Most of the pleasure is in getting that last little piece perfect...Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just keep showing up and doing the work.

Thanks Terri,
The closest store to me is Schaumburg. I read your bio... I too am addicted to vintage linen, boxes and boxes full. all washed and lovingly restored. I know my husband would love for me to sell it. Now I have fabric up to my eyeballs, in quilt and fashion fabric. Learned how to quilt a year ago and have made many, with many more to go. Tired of paying high prices for clothing, that do not fit right, and I have gained the middle aged body...LOL so fitting a pattern is what is on the agenda now. Will definitely check out Hancocks and Spandex house. Thanks, girls.
