I want to put these shoulder pads in the jacket I made, but they're not symmetrically shaped. Does the pointier end (bottom, in picture) go towards the front or towards the back?

The pointer end (longer side) goes in the back.

In reply to Tonya
The shoulder cap ( used in jackets and coats ) is designed in a way that the shallower piece goes besides the shoulder blade and the wider part does fill in the gap on the front side of the shoulder.
