I have been sewing without problems until today. My thread kept getting tandled in the bobbin schuttle. I took in apart and cleaned as suggested. I also had lowered the feed dogs when I tried to rwmove a tangled mess. Now the feed dogs will not go back up. Any suggestions?

My sm is a Kenmore, not a Brother, but HTH: When I switch the feed dog lever back to "up", the feed dogs look like they're still down, until I sew just a few stitches, then they pop back up.

In my experience, thread nest in the bobbin area are often the result of an upper threading problem. The lack of correct upper tensions causes the upper thread to stay on the bottom of the fabric and that is what causes the bunches of thread. Sometimes the thread will slip out of the slotted take up lever or isn't seated in the tesnsion discs just right or ?? So, I would completely re-thread the machine.

I second the thoughts on the feed dogs. They should pop back up once you make a few stitches.
