Does anyone remember them? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

I've got a few Style Patterns in my boxes from years ago. I don't remember seeing them around anymore. Does anyone have any information on the history of the company? Did they sell to a bigger pattern company?

Style was owned by Simplicity and was discontinued. I believe that the Style patterns are now in the Simplicity catalog and in the New Look catalog.

I did a web search and Simplicity kept coming up. I thought I had remembered New Look buying Style out, and then later Simplicity bought NL out?
It's tough trying to remember. I sure wish I had kept up in some areas with sewing. Just gotten out more into the stores.

I remember Style patterns well. Like you I still have some in my stash. They were a favourite of mine as they were more "European". I don't know the history, but 2-3 decades ago when I was buying Style patterns, they were owned by Simplicity but in a separate pattern catalog. The Style patterns were known as being more "european" as I said earlier. Style disappeared, with some of the popular patterns incorporated into the Simplicity catalogue, and New Look appeared on scene about the same time. New Look seemed to take over where Style left off. They certainly have the same look and feel that Style had.

Oh, thank you. I had my boys put all my patterns in numerical order, and in Company order, and they put the Styles in with the New Looks, in the Simplicity box. I do agree with you about the look of the patterns.

It was a very winning pattern company, I think, ahead of its time, and characterised by interesting details that the Big Four lacked. Northbreeze.com has quite few Style patterns in its listings.

I recall style from the 1960's when I was just a girl, and they were my favourite when i was a teen. They were fashion forward, the styles were at least a year ahead of what was available in the mall, and not that difficult to sew. I seem to recall that they had a british vibe going on, they might have originally been from England. 8*running to my stash**here we are...Style patterns were designed in England and manufactured and distributed for North American consumers by the Simplicity company. They were completely bought out in 1991(?) by Simplicity and the line vanished. I have all my old Style patterns, one basic short sleeve/cap sleeve blouse pattern I just made again this summer. After altering to fit my no longer teen body, of course!
