Don't know if anyone read this article. It's from Nov. 2006, but interesting, nonetheless. It looks as if RTW custom fit will be the wave of the future. It's already in place in the Brooks Brothers store in NYC and some Lane Bryant stores, et al. Article

I read about the Levi's a few years ago, but haven't seen anything on the sucess (or lack) of the program. I guess it works. The Unique bodyskan has been a trainwreck for the most part and I've avoided it due to the high number of complaints on other forums.

I think the original company to do these type scans is the Tom James custom suits. I remember working with guys, thirty years ago, who got custom suits from TJ and talking about a computer scan of their body back then.

Personally, I'd give it a try only with a money-back guarantee on the fit. I tried pattern-making software once and it was a disaster because of my weird measurements.

ccris - if you could spring for one custom shirt from BB for your son, you'd have your pattern. Expensive, but maybe worth it?

I read another article (can't find it now) that said there *was* a money back guarantee. If the garment is returned, they'll just put it in their outlet store.

I know about Unique, too. Yep, when they began advertising, I was first in line. The measurements were wrong, wrong, wrong. I went back to a JoAnn's to have them manually retaken, and the lady confirmed the Unique measurements were off. Well, life got in the way and I never contacted Unique with those new measurements.

It appears the "Intellifit" will eventually filter down to the WalMart's, Target's, etc. Supposedly, it's a win-win situation. Retail will profit and customers will get clothes that fit, affordably, relatively.

Interesting that women's clothes are still made for an hour glass figure, when only 8.4% of women are built like that, all size 8 and under to boot, too huh? No wonder RTW doesn't fit most women!!!

About twenty years ago I did take my son to a tailor for a custom made shirt. The tailor didn't make it himself. He just took the measurements and had the shirt made elsewhere. The way the shirt was made, made my son look like he had 2 golf balls on the top of his shoulders. I refused that shirt. Even ill fitting RTW didn't look like that. So, all those years later, you know where I am! I've amassed a lot of info from you, Debbie, and els. I do think I'm going to get him a fit, finally. What a stress reducer that'll be! Still, I wish I'd wake up to find all of these fitting issue were just a dream.
