Still searching for a dress form (sigh)...I think I'm going w/ a non-adjustable one that I will pad out. However, I'm wondering about the forms w/ collapsable shoulders. That sounds like a handy feature, BUT if I'm padding out the shoulders will that render this option useless? (I've never seen one of these before in person.) PGM actually has one with this option that is only about $200 for a basic form
I'm also wondering about the forms w/ offset poles for fitting pants (like the My Double Deluxe). I don't see how you'd get pants on and off the form easily. I am bound and determined to make pants in the future and wonder if this is helpful or not. Since I've never made pants or used a form before, I'm a little mystified as to the best/easiest way to fit them.
I'd love any input on this since I'd like to get a form that will be helpful to me without spending $ on useless features. I posted this last night and didn't get any replies (perhaps it was cuz everyone was already in bed...timing is everything).
Thanks!
Eve

The only advise I have is it may be useless to get the one for pants unless you can get it's tush to exactly match yours.

Sherril,
Did you end up ordering a form from Studio Rox? If so, did you get it yet? I'd love to know if you're happy with it, since it's between the style you were looking at and the PGM w/ the collapsable shoulders.

Eve, my class is going to the Los Angeles garment district, and I think I hold out until we go there. Then if I don't find something suitable, I'll order the Studio Rox one. On Tuesday we will be draping each other's bodies to made a fitted cover for our dress forms. Then we will take them with us to the stores to find the one that is best for our bodies by trying on the fitted covers. I'm thing I won't find anything, but if I do, it would be great to try out my cover on it before I take it home.

Oh, you are so lucky!!! What I wouldn't give to do that! Geez, I haven't seen a real life dress form ever! Well, except for that wire mesh thingy my mom had when I was a little girl. It's tough to make a decision based on little thumbnail pictures, ya know?
