where to find good one? (Moderated by Sharon1952, EleanorSews)

After I had a total success with industrial type of eBay binders ( Thank you all who helped me to choose and install it on Elna 744!!) I've got greedy and wanted to expand my collection. Now I wanted a belt loop foot to stitch Lycra strips on exercise pants, sport tops and etc....
Yesterday I took a plunge and I bought the Elna belt loop foot at a crazy $80 Au for the tiny piece of plastic. We tried it in store, it worked with 40 cm of that particular fabric with that particular Lycra strip. You can't check all options at once, can you?
Bach home I copied what we tried in store, it worked. Then I tried other Lycras on longer pieces. I feed the strip of fabric evenly at the entrance. But the finished look lacks of consistency. There are unfolded portions of the strip, or in some places the edges are not straight. The longer the piece the more inconsistency.
Interfaced Lycra strips look neater, but somehow out of place, bc they are too wide and thick, and the stitching now sits too far from the edges.
Even with a woven strip cut on a grainline parallel to the edge it didn't work. ( didn't try belt loops cut on bias, as it sounds ridiculous to me).
What do I do wrong (if any)?
Or it is not my fault but just a badly designed piece of equipment?
Is there anybody who has a success with the plastic type of a belt loop foot?/ What is the secret?/ What type do you use?
Are there any belt loop feet on eBay that might be adjusted similar to binders. ( I only find the Pfaff belt loop foot that is identical to Elna's), but not the industrial type that Sewingskater mentioned
Please help!
Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
