I am sewing pleated skirts for my teenage daughter as her school went to uniforms this year. I sewed the pleats down for about 2 inches down from the yoke seam but no matter how much I press the pleats flare open and look unattractive. I remember reading somewhere that you could sew a thin seam down each pleat. has any one done this and does it help? I had to alter the pattern because to her, your waist is 3 inches down from your belly button but this should not change the pleats. Help!

Several years ago, I had a pleated skirt hemmed by a dress shop. They told me to have it pressed at a dry cleaners. That solved the problem.
