Somebody on another thread suggested I post this story, since I had alluded to it, so here it is. Maybe you have a cat story to share, too.

A few weeks before we left for a two-week cruise last Spring, I was in the hardware store looking for ant killer. I heard this woman raving about this wonderful insect trap. It consisted of a 6" tray with super sticky stuff in it which is meant to trap the bugs when they strolled across. Since we'd been having trouble with spiders in our bedroom, I decided to buy some. I placed one under a piece of furniture beside our bed and behind a decorative box against the wall next to our bed. All was well and I forgot about them. (Are you starting to see where this is going?)

A few days before we were due home, I got an email on my laptop from our son saying the cat sitter (who was checking on Beau every other day) had called earlier in the day saying that she had found Beau "crying" in the basement with this long thing stuck to his paw. (The picture has been included in the hopes that those big blue eyes will raise the pity factor.) At this point it had been two days since anyone had checked on him, so he could have had that thing on his paw for two days. She did the best she could to get it off, but he still had a glob of glue, fur and lint on his paw. At this point, my heart was broken at the thought of his suffering for two days.

When we got home, I called numerous vets to get him groomed, since he has to be anesthetized to be groomed. I finally found a vet that could remove the glue the next day, but the fee was $300!

A couple of weeks later, we started noticing dirty spots on the carpet. Upon examination it became evident that it was glue that Beau had tracked around. Upon further examination, it was also found on a sofa and a large upholstered ottoman. The fee to the carpet cleaner for cleaning up that mess was $200. We're still finding little spots of glue in out-of-the-way places.

As a result, I now own the title of Bonehead of the Year. What was I thinking, putting a sticky glue trap near where the cat likes to sleep (under the bed)? Beau has forgiven me, however, and we're friends again.

Edited to make the picture of Beau available on a new picture hosting site.

Gosh, Beau's big blue eyes are beautiful! Poor kitty stuck to that nasty trap, but who would've thunk... Thank goodness our pets love us unconditionally.

Last winter I put fly paper in some plants inside the house and when I bent down to water one of them my hair went in it --- fingernail polish finally removed the glue. Nasty, nasty stuff. Again, who would've thunk...

I accidentally caught my 3yo daughter in a stickytrap behind the tv! Fortunately she was wearing footy pajamas, which are now footless...

Poor kitty. I don't have a cat, but I know what you are saying about vet bills.

Awww, poor kitty! My pets have had a lot of experiences like this.

The latest actually involves a neighbor's cat who visits through a sliding door that I leave slightly open so my cats can go in and out. I don't understand the fascination with my house, but "Stinky" (that's her actual name) seems to like being over here, sometimes for several days. I don't see her much. Most of her time is spent under the guest room bed.

You know, we have also used these traps (they also catch mice btw, which I did not intend and regret). I put them away forever when one got stuck on one of our dogs. I have a cheaper save for you on the residual bits on your carpet and furniture; get some "Goo Gone", easy to find at any craft store (and much cheaper at a hardware store, btw), and dab it on the spots with a rag (I suppose you should test first for color fastness); this worked really well at dissolving and removing the goo, never to be seen again, and no harm at all to the carpet....

I've had a cat get into a fireplace (woodburning...not in use...LOL!) then trot all over the map like a tattoo artist. I few days of cleaner, Stanley Steemer, I was back to normal and had a new fireplace screen.

Whoda thunk? I cannot imagine having to remove the glue tray from the cat's foot, either. Ugh...

Your cat is beautiful and I'm glad she forgave you.
