DH is away on a golfing week. Eldest at-home child is working this evening and the other got permission to spend the evening with a friend.

So, I'm all alone (at least until about 10 o'clock).

I can't remember the last time I was alone in my own house for the evening! And I'm not sure what to do with myself.

Is that just sad and pathetic? It should be liberating but all I can think to do is vacumn the house, wash the floor and eat leftovers so as not to make too much mess. Then for what remains of the evening I shall probably end up watching TV with the dogs on my lap.

Yep, it is sad - there I've answered my own question.

You missed the obvious - do some sewing!!

By this time, your'e evening has been and gone (very fuzzy on time differences it's 11:04 BST at the moment) so I hope you enjoyed it. And you should tell your family you need more practice and see if they'll let you do it again!!

Cheers,
AJ

Just do whatever you want.. if that is watching tv with the dogs.. then go for it. At least it will be quiet enough to hear yourself think! :)

Don't you think it's such a shock the first time it happens that it takes a while to get over the wild-eyed daze?

It'll get easier!

Well, that is basically how I spend my days & nights when DH is out of town. (DS is grown up and in another city, the dog is deaf, etc.)

Wasn't the silence deafening?

Yes, the silence was deafening until I turned on the TV which I had to then turn down - suddenly it was too loud without all the background noise that normally occurs.
My tea/dinner was over and done with in seconds. Ditto the cleaning up.
Thought about doing some sewing but am struck down with bad case of 'Analysis Paralysis' as a PR wit has called it.
They all came home too soon. I'm really looking forward to the next time - bring it on!
