I have several store-bought purses that have a thin foam interfacing. I love the body it gives the purse, without being stiff. I have searched online for hours upon hours trying to find this. Can anyone here possible help???

You might try the fabric used for headliners in cars (that's the ceiling you see). There's about a 1/8in. foam backing attached to the fabric. You should be able to find any kind of solid color you want. For example, try here. I always try eBay for wierd stuff I don't know the name of

Thanks, but I have tried the headliner fabric and it is way too thick. What I want is almost as thin as fabric...i'ts ultra thin foam.

I remember buying very inexpensive ironing board covers that came with a super thin piece of foam padding. One pad might be enough for your purse. Maybe you could try some of the dollar stores. I think those board covers were only a dollar or two, but it's been quite awhile since I last purchased one, too.

Would the rubber grip-like shelf liner work? It comes in rolls and is probably about 12-18" wide and is available in the dollar stores, also.

Foam backed draperies are still available in some places and they're really inexpensive. It's possible a piece of that might work to add extra body.

Check an upholstery shop. If they don't carry it, they might know who does.

My brain is empty now. Good luck!

Edited to add the following:

Right after I posted I thought about the word "bonded." If you want to continue your search maybe you could type in "bonded foam interfacing."

Maybe it is craft foam? It comes in thin sheets, in two thicknesses, and many colors and found in the kids crafting aisle at Michaels and Joanns. I don't know if one can get them by the yard.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have checked upholstery shops and every type of foam shop I can find. It has to be available somewhere, since it is used for ironing boards and hangers. I make hundreds of purses a year, which is why I was trying to find a source. I tried "bonded" with no luck. I do appreciate the help...I'll keep trying.

You could call or email Atlanta Thread and ask if they have a source for the foam that's used on hangers.

And another Click here. Maybe they have it or could tell you who might.

Here's another place. -- Click here.

A list of various places you could also check. Click here.

Another possibility. Scroll 2/3rds down. Click here.

ITA on the craft foam. I've bought it at JoAnn's and it is 1/8" thick.

Hi Kay~ I found your message when I searched for FOAM INTERFACING. Did you ever find a retailer for this product. I would love it if you would share it with me.

I recently found some extremely thin foam at Home Depot that was perfect for bags and hats. Sorry I don't know the exact name because I've already discarded the outer bag because it was dirty. You could try in the flooring dept. because the label said it was meant for use under tiles and under different types of flooring. HTH, Jane
