I am having trouble with my overlock. It is a Kenmore 234-D.
For some reason everytime I start to sew my needles keep breaking. I have tried everything I know but they still break.
What am I doing wrong?

Three things come to my mind but you might have already checked them all...
1. Is it the right type of needle for your serger?
2. Are the needles inserted properly and "all" the way up into the needle bar? The needle tips will not be even.
3. Is your stitch finger set for narrow 3 thread serging or rolled hem or is the rolled hem plate on the serger (if your serger has one) instead of regular plate and you are trying to do a 4 thread wide stitch?
I hope you can find out what is causing this problem.

Oh my, I just thought of a 4th..could you possibly be pulling on the fabric instead of letting the serger do all of the work? If I can think of anything else that might cause the needles to break I will post but hopefully you will have corrected the problem by then.

If your thread is wrapped up on something or the antennna isn't all the way up, this can cause a needle to snap as well.
