I am soooooo confused by now. I have been looking on line for a week now. I want to take the family where it will be warm. DH and I went on a short 4 day stay with friends in Cancun last March and I thought it was cold. I always had my light sweater on. No one was ever in the pool. And there was a red flag out on the beach every day. This year we decided we will take the kids 9 and 10 to someplace where it will be warmer. 10 years ago we went to Jamaica at Sandals and it was wonderful. So, I think I want to go there. So, I looked online for all inclusive because I think it will be easier than having to get snacks every 30 minutes for kids with money. I have looked at the Beaches Boscobel and thought it sounded really nice. But, I don't like the fact that there is a 2 hr ride to the hotel from the airport. So, I see that there is an all inclusive called the Sunset Beach & Resort in Montego. the down fall to this resort I think from what trip advisor people have said is the food and I guess the cruise ships come close and the hotel lets those from the ships spend the day at the hotel. I just don't know what to do I want a warm pool, nice calm beach, lots of activities for kids, maybe a waterslide or two and snorkling, paddle boats and things like that. Any suggestions? I'm so confused I feel like I'm back at the beginning

Your kids are the perfect age for a Disney cruise. May not be as relaxing as you would like, but I would check it out.

funny you should mention that. I and the kids really thought that would be fun to do their land and cruise package. But DH says the last time he was on a cruise all he seen was sick people all over the place. So then we thought of maybe just Disney. But the youngest one still wants to get into my cart when grocery shopping for 45 minutes . So, we opted to go to a resort that has everything there and no walking around. We don't plan on doing any touring around. Just want a resort to watch entertaining shows, water sports, and lots of kids activities. And I wanted some honest opinions and knew I could get them here. I have heard that some of the reviews like on trip advisor could be slanted to a resort that one may have an interest in. Don't know how true that is.

I vote for Beaches Boscobel. I haven't stayed there, but I have done the 2 hour ride, rode to Ochos Rios and Negril. It is hairy, but actually, I think the kids will love it. Plus, they will get to see how people live in dire poverty. Who knows, they may even be grateful for what they have. Be sure and use the facilities before you leave the airport

Not to push the land/sea bit (since there's a lot of factors going into all this, including how much you want to push a stroller around the miles of Disney property!) but I've gone on two Disney cruises (both 4 nighters on the Wonder) and seasickness really wasn't a problem. The first night of the first cruise we hit really rough water crossing the Florida jet stream (or whatever it's called!). Beforehand the captain came on over the loud speakers and offered seasickness meds to anyone who needed them and during most of the crew mentioned that it was the roughest seas they'd ever experienced. And honestly it wasn't bad at all. I never saw anyone sick (including my incredibly sensitive mom) and by the next morning everyone seemed to be fine and up and about. Honestly I was kind of disappointed the second cruise because my favorite part had been bouncing all over the ship with the high seas foaming below. My biggest complaint about cruising now is that you don't feel anything. I LIKE feeling the ocean! Anyway, the programs are excellent, the staff fabulous, the food divine, and the shows are fun, especially if you like the "dreams come true" side of Disney. So just another factor to plug in. :)

Though I gotta admit, by late afternoon I'd be begging for a stroller to ride in if I thought someone would push me!

I've not done it and am past that stage of life, but vote for the Big Red boat for your family. We have cruised several times mostly with DH's sister and spouse as they are cruisers. Motion sickness is a real issue for me but not so on any of our cruises altho' I travel with Bonine because it does not make me drowsy and is taken only when needed. Truly with large ships you do not feel the sea.

I stayed at Boscobel about 15 years ago it was great --- the kids have the run of the place, there is a great pool, beach and if you don't want to get out of your swimsuit for dinner you can eat at the buffet by the pool. We took our girls (age 10 and 6 at the time) for spring break and liked it so much we went back the next year in June.

The ride from the airport isn't so bad -- it is an opportunity to get acquainted with other families before you land at the hotel. If you go make sure you take the trip to Dunn's River Falls.

It has been sometime since I was there so you might want to check Trip Advisor for recent reviews.

I can't help with the main question because I don't have kids and I don't know where it's reliably warm this time of year, but I do think Trip Advisor is a very reliable source. They are very vigilant about taking down fake reviews written by the owners to try to boost their ratings. If a place has only a few reviews maybe you can worry, but I'm guessing the resorts have hundreds of reviews; odds are that the vast majority of them are by real people. I love TA and have used it with great success to find hotels all over Europe. Though the people here are awesome and won't steer you wrong, you're going to get many more data points on Trip Advisor than you will here. (I have no affiliation with them, other than posting reviews of places I've stayed.)
