Anyone else have a machine that uses that? (Moderated by Pyrose)

I used all of the bobbin thread that came with my Baby Lock Emore and then went and bought some sulky and some Brother bobbin thread. I was having all kinds of problems with them. With the Sulky, the tension had to be dropped to -4 and with the Brother, no amount of tweaking helped. I finally realized that that the Sulky and Brother were both a standard 60 wt and the bobbin thread that came with my Emore (brand name: The finishing Touch) was 90 Wt.
I ordered 5 spools of Finishing Touch 90 wt from my dealer and they arrived today. I dropped my wound bobbin in and raised the tension from -4 to -1 and Voila, everything worked great again. The Emore will work on 60 wt, but it works much much better with 90. Heads up to anyone wanting to buy this machine...you will need to be prepared to order 90 wt. or plan on doing a lot of testing and tweaking!

I use NEBS as recommended by my BL dealer and I have no idea what the weight is, but they work great for me in the Ellegante. The Finishing Touch bobbin thread that came with the Ellegante is 60wt.
I did not doubt what you posted, but had to check the BL site and the only EM that specifically states 90wt bobbin thread is the Emore.

Really? It's the only one that uses 90 wt? Well, of course it does. That means I have to special order thread all of the time!!!!
Oh well, I love my machine.
It did not occur to me to check the BL website for that info. I think I will go now and see what they reccomend if you can't get 90 wt.

Hi Kelly
My machine (Elna Xpressive II) also came with 90 wt bobbin thread and the manual recommends it. I have to admit I use anything I have on hand
cause embroidery is often like..." oh yeah, that would be a neat detail..." and then I want it done, like, right now!
But the auto-wind function works A LOT better with the 90 wt, and also the stitch density is better. Some of the designs I've purchased has way too much underlay.

My machine does not work well with any thread but 90 wt, and of course that is hard to come by and I have to order it!
But, on the upside, my machine works very very well when the bobbin thread is correct.
I do get soooo impacient too. I just want to get it done right this minute! But if I take my time, I am happier. It's hard to imagine life without my embroidery machine.
Thinking hard about it....nope. I can't imagine life without it.
