Has anyone used this system for more professional results? Is it worth buying?

I don't have the sewing system, but I just purchased their Easy Zipper DVD and it's absolutely wonderful. I had started avoiding anything with zippers, but not any more. I'm going to be doing a lot of PJs and dresses for my little ones the next couple of months for Christmas, but after that, watch out . . . zippers, here I come .

Consider trying them out on Smartflix first.

Here is more info on Smartflix if you need it.

Have fun!

I LOVELOVELOVE Margaret Islander techniques. Certainly try Industrial Shortcuts I & II, and the man's shirt tapes. The Pant drafting is wonderful, too.

I've read that they are industrial techniques actually used by the industry. I have never heard anything bad about them. She is a very well-respected person in the sewing world. I remember seeing her on Sandra Betzina's show back in the 90's, and she made everything look easy.

Carla - You got me started on Smartflix for watercolor videos - thanks so much - and I hadn't noticed they have sewing videos, too - thanks again.

And love your new photo!

I took an Industrial Shortcuts Full Day workshop with Janet Pray (current owner of Islander Sewing Systems) a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the class. The techniques are great. I won't use all of them (there are more "sewing from the wrong side" techniques that I'm just not interested in), but there are enough really really good techniques in the class that I bought the book...and I have their zipper DVD on my wishlist.
