I have the Janome 6600 sewing machine and decided to get a ruffler for it. I went for the Janome 846415008 ruffle foot and had my local dealer order it for me. After a couple of months of being jacked around, I found out they never ordered the foot so I ordered it from here. I got the foot this weekend, but it doesn't look like it was made by Janome. It came in a bag with a small instruction sheet. There is no model number to be found and just the name "Niiken" on the foot itself. I am assuming they sent me a generic foot in place of the Janome one. Does anyone have this ruffler that can verify if it clearly has Janome on it or not? If I got the generic, it is going back, because I could have gotten a generic foot for much cheaper than that. Thanks for your help.

I have a very similar foot. It is a Niiken and made in Japan. It is the smoothest and quietest ruffler I've ever heard (although I've never seen one of those pricey high end rufflers in action).

Mine has two adjustment screws so that you can align the needle hole with any low shank machine, so it is a high quality generic foot.

I got mine for $35 on ebay.

I have no idea whether Niikens are made by Janome, however.

I hope that helps a little.

I probably have too many sewing machines, but how am I supposed to resist when they're either free by the side of the road or people give them to me?

Mistycreek, I hope the ruffler sold to you is made for a high shank machine which if you didn't already know is the length of Janome 6600! I just check my Janome Ruffler and it too has the Niiken stamp. I have the Janome generic for top loading machines... I do not have the specialty Ruffler for Acufeed, whiich is the model number you provided.

Btw, are you a member of the Yahoo group for Janome 6500/6600 owners? Ask about the ruffler there, I am sure someone can help.

Thanks for your help. I did joing the Yahoo group suggested. It is a high shank ruffler. I just talked to the company I bought it from and she said that it is the Janome ruffler I ordered. I asked her about it not having the Janome name or model number. She said she called "the company" and they make it in Japan for Janome. There was a language barrier so for now, I left it at that. I'm going to read through the info on the Janome 6600 Yahoo group and see if I can't figure it out. If not, hopefully someone on that group will have that foot and can help me. Thanks.

The link you provided shows a ruffler exactly like mine... Now I'm not sure, I might have the Acufeed ruffler after all!

The yahoo group is great... a pretty supportive group of Janome 6600 owners. See you there!
