Thank god for these message boards!
I have asked for a new sewing machine from Santa this year (lol) So hubby had me research & pick out what I would like. I found the combination units...I chose the Brother HE120 that I seen on HSN last week. The unit is refurbished and from KENS Sewing Centre, and fits my current budget. It looks easy enough for a newbie like me. Wow I am so excited!
I have a new found interest in embroidery due to my daughter beginning in Irish Dance this year and I can remember how much my mother used to curse when any one of her girls needed a new competition dress.....so expensive!
I find my sewing skills fairly 'ok' not brilliant but I can get by I guess.....and now its time to learn the embroidery portion.
Sooooo, I just really wanted to introduce myself because I am sure I will be annoying everyone on the board with my silly questions as soon as I unpack my machine!
Thanks ladies! Cant wait to chat with you!

Re: New embroidery machine, Janome 200e (posted on 12/14/07 9:38 AM ET)
This is my first time to post, but I have been reading the boards for awhile and learned so much from everyone. I recently recieved the Janome 200e as my early Christmas present. I have going strong making things and playing. I have sewing for years so I caught on to combining patterns easily. My question is since the machine only has a 4x4 sewing area what is the best way to get a wider sewing area. I know it's going to take alot of measuring and I'm terrible at math. Any ideas? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Sorry I haven't responded back sooner. I've been sick
The machine is very user friendly. Mine sews beautifully....
NOW, I will say, I got mine at the end of September. Used it used it used.... and then the feed dogs quit working.... BUT I called Ken's and had a replacement in two days no problems no questions asked!
So I'm still happy.
And a hint--have the box wrapped and keep the machine out... That's what I'd do!! :D
