Hello all,

I jsut received my first order from fabric mart, and am so disappointed. I bought 3 yards of stretch wool at $9/yrd. When I checked the fabric, there was a long section of staining on one edge and about 3 feet of writing in a what appears to be a neon yellow paint pen. I am really disenhearted as I am just getting back into sewing and was so excited to make a dress with it. I've just emailed fabric mart, but do you all have any suggestions?

Oh man, that's the pits. FM is usually good about customer service so hopefully they'll take care of you. Perhaps they'll refund your money and then you could always use it as a muslin?

If you cannot work around the flaws, you should ask for a refund.

Measure the fabric. I've gotten pieces from them with stains and writing, but they've always given me as much as I ordered in the non-stained part and then tacked the bad part on as "extra". If that isn't the case, then give them a call (1-800-242-3695). It can take them a couple of days to answer an email.

When I've had an issue with a piece of fabric, I've called them. Don't email...someone has to read it...

The number is: 800-242-3695 and they are open until 5:00 pm EST. Speak to either Joanna or Sue, they will make it right for you on the spot.

My experience has been the same as Irene and Cmarie where stained or factory marked sections were sent in addition to the amount ordered. And yes, telephone, as it can take a week or more to get an email answer - though they do eventually answer. I've found that they're very anxious to please each customer.

They just got back to me, and are sending a new piece. What great customer service.

This does not surprise me at all. They are a good business to deal with.

Yay! I'm glad to hear to this.

Now you have the perfect fabric for a muslin!
