I purchased This Fabric on clearance at Hobby Lobby and I would like to make This New Look Pattern...the pink and blue dress and coat.

The fabric is a rather loose weave though and I don't know if there are special tips for sewing with it. Thanks!!

I used a fabric very similar to that to make a jacket. The weight of the fabric kept pulling it off grain and making it look all wonky, even though it was lined. Thankfully I bought a ton of the fabric (was going to make a skirt too) so I recut it and then cut all of the pieces again from fusible interfacing and fused each piece and then sewed it together. (Did that make sense?) I had to be careful to not fuse it off grain. It worked beautifully and gave it a nice crispness which the first model didn't have. I think if I was doing it again I'd fuse the whole yardage and then cut it out. I think you can get 60" wide fusibles at some online stores.

Now if I could just figure out the bias binding I could wear the darn thing!! (Insert quiet sobbing here).

Thanks so much for the idea. I did have thoughts of fusing interfacing to it.... but I didn't know if that was a realistic way to go. I think I have read about people dying the interfacing.... might have to look into that too.

I hope you get your jacket completed soon and then you can post a review... I would love to see it!
