This software is exactly like the Brother PED Basic. I bought it a few months ago from Ken's Sewing and Vac Center. It worked great until yesterday when I wanted to transfer some designs to it. When I clicked on the inbox with folders icon it brought up a screen that said Browse at the top and gave me two options; card and desktop. I was never able to open any of my folders. I uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times but it didn't solve the problem. Anyone have any idea of what went wrong and how I might be able to fix it? Although BabyLock customer service has been great in the past I now can't seem to find a place on their website to send a question. Although the software was new, unopened package, it has a date of 2002 on the CD so it's not exactly what I would call new as far as the technology goes. I finally had to carry my machine out here to the computer and load the designs using my USB cable. That works fine but my reason for buying the software was so I wouldn't have to do that. The machine is heavy and I have some serious back problems that makes having to lug a heavy machine not a good thing for me to do. I will appreciate any suggestions from anyone with some computer savvy. TIA!

WIERD! the same thing happened to me with my PEDBasic only i had been using it for much longer than you...YEARS! Get the same message and not only that, but if i see any pics at all they are singles so i no longer can view the entire folder. i have to click on each individual one. Now i did upgrade my pc to Vista and assumed that was the problem. But you did not do that and we're having the same issues. I downloaded new drivers from brother's website but it never would work like it did before (great!). Do you know this may seem nuts to you but this is part of the reason i sold my machine and may get out of the embroidery game entirely. it just costs too much to keep everything compatible seems you have to buy all sorts of things just to get your designs-- something that should be easy and cheap considering the technology is leap-years ahead of what these boxes are. It feels like a conspiracy sometimes. sorry little tangent there but this is really odd thing to occur and like i said mine worked like a charm for 8 years! and btw--i had never EVER seen that option before to choose card or desktop! and neither of them did one thing when i'd click 'em.

Thanks for your reply, sewfrequent. So I'm not alone with this happening. I just hate it that I spent $100 on this software (cheap, I know, but it is "old" even if it is "new.") and now it doesn't work. I've spent a ton on embroidery machines (one stand-alone and two combos) since about 10 years ago as well as all the other stuff that goes along with it and I do very little embroidery compared to most people who get into this hobby. I'm just going to forget the software and transfer the designs directly to my machine when I do want to embroider. Glad it isn't something I want to do for hours on end and day after day!

I love my machine for sewing too and used it today to make a cotton ticking fabric liner for my shopping cart. No pattern, just made it by measuring everything and really appreciated my machine. Even made buttonholes to run the ties through and got great buttonholes. Who needs embroidery anyway?

Sewfrequent, I can't send you a PM because I'm not a member of FOPR so hope you see this.

I have been in touch with Baby Lock today and have spent a good deal of time trying to iron out my software problem. They have an update, dated in January 2007, and I have been trying to download it all afternoon. No luck, though, because it is a pdf file and my computer will not download pdf files. Don't ask why because I haven't a clue. Anyway, I installed, uninstalled, and installed several times today from my CD. For some reason, the last time I did it, I can access my files now and send them to the card. The CS rep told me to double click on the "Desktop" option that comes up and, low and behold, it worked! So, since your PED Basic is exactly the same as my PTS, maybe you should check the Brother site and see if you need to upgrade too. If you are still using your embroidery machine. I think you said you sold it so maybe you have quit the embroidery hobby completely? Anyway, thought this info might help.
