Hi,
I currently have a Viking Designer 1usb, which is new and a Pffaff 1475cd. I have never had problems with the Pfaff. I am on my second Viking Designer 1usb. They were unable to repair the first one so they gave me a new one within the year warranty. The replaced new one is now having problems with the usb drive. It only has 5 hours sewing time. I have a dealer that I can trade the designer for the pfaff 2170.
How is the 2170 and how much should I expect to pay out of pocket?

When I was looking, the SE and the 2170 were both around the same price, about 5K. My dealer has Pfaff and Viking, so I could look side by side. The D1 is more user friendly for embroidery, while the Pfaff has IDT. I ended up with a used D1 (floppy) I also have a mechanical Pfaff. Trading in a machine is similar to trading in a car, it's only a good deal for the dealer. If you get alot for your trade, the retail price is high, if the retail is low, so is the trade in price.
Can't you have the current machine repaired?

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.
