How to avoid stretch (Moderated by EleanorSews)

Hi, I am making my knit tee. After I fnihsed binding, it seemed my neckline distort. It does not lay flat. It was OK before I sew binding (with twin needle).
I often have a neck line problem for tee making. After binding, it does not lay flat, or after binding, the binding rolls outfoward. I am wondering what is the reaosn and how I can prevent these. What notion is good to stabilize? Thank you for your help.

I just did one and used wash away wonder tape, which worked beautifully. And it does wash right out, too.

If you haven't seen this before, check out the Threads tutorial on neck bindings. It is, by far, the best tutorial I've found on the subject. Also worth watching is the link shown on the page for turtlenecks...it shows how to properly measure and position your binding. My first attempt at a knit neck binding was a wadder...the second (after finding this link) was darned near flawless.
I often have poor luck w/ the twin needles, regardless. If I can't make it work, I just do 2 rows of reg. stitching. Practice on some scraps and see what happens.
HTH!!!

The binding is rolling outward because it's too large for the opening.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

Are you stay stitching the neck edge immediately after you cut out the pattern? Doing that will stop the piece from distroting during sewing.
Stretching the binding, not neck line while sewing will also help. Depending on your fabric and binding material, you may need to cut the binding smaller than the pattern piece calls for.
