Press? Steam? Other? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

Hello to all the Drapery Experts looking in here and thanks for taking a moment to help me with this question:
I have pleated white drapery from a sliding glass door and a 48 inch wide window. They needed to be stored folded in half on a hanger for MONTHS after the hurricanes. The fabric content is 70% rayon and 30% acetate from JC Penney. The drapes hang from ceiling to floor--about 8 feet long.
They were clean and practically new when they had to be taken down for the windows to be replaced.
I am ready to put them up again and find that there is wrinkling where they went over the hanger. Otherwise they appear to be clean and in good shape.
Would you please let me know how you would handle the pressing of these drapes? Would you buy a steamer, try to iron these or do you have other suggestions.
Thank you in advance.
Carla

That's going to be tricky. Rayon doesn't play well with water, and neither does acetate, so you must not get them damp. Your best bet is probably to take them to a dry cleaner that has experience in pressing draperies.

Thank you Welmoed!
I will try a dry iron first and then consider the dry cleaner.
