Covering a stool (Moderated by Deepika, Sharon1952)

I am thrilled to have procured a Horn sewing stool for only $15 (they are no longer made).
It is a little battered so I thought I would give it a new look to fit in my room.
What I thought would be great if I could use some of my sheets that I have managed to collect and not use over the years - mostly bought from opportunity shops and show very little wear and are quite thick.
What I am wondering is there anything I could treat these with so the material does not wear too quickly? Of course the stool will be used only as my sewing stool not for general use.

Just an idea, maybe you want to hit it with Scotchgard water repellent. It won't make it all stiff, and it may give it a little more body and wearability? As in wear on it, not to wear it...
That might work? AND, there is always old fashioned Starch! Come sin a spray now. But that would wash off pretty easily.

MMMm sounds like a plan. I still am tossing this around. I am hunting through my offcuts - may have some backed curtain material.

You could always try using your sheets with a thin batting in between and quilting the fabric. That would certainly give you a bit more stability in the fabric.
