I feel like I need to take in the front armhole on the bodice of my top. There is a fold of excess fabric at the side front. Also, when I reach forward the sleeve seam restricts my arm. My question is, if I scoop about a quarter inch in the front armhole, what do I do to the sleeve? Should it still fit, or does it need to be altered to match the scooped armhole?

Hi Elaine,
You will need to alter the sleeve cap. Here is a great link to see what the sleeve might look like after the alteration.

Thank you, Birgitte. I had read that article before but, of course, had forgotten all about it. It gives me the confidence to go ahead and try the suggested change. Luckily, I am still working with the muslin for this pattern..

Edited to correct spelling.

Elaine,
If the only issue you had was a slight fold at the front, you might have been fine just moving the sleeve slightly forward at that location. But since you have the back strain, yes, you need to reshape. --Lily
