I'm making a lightweight skirt that has three tiers, the middle tier is the largest and the bottom one is more like a large ruffle - so it's a bit full but not quite as full as the multi-tiered skirts of a few years ago. Since the fabric is very light cotton, I think I should line it, but would it be ok to use another lightweight cotton or would the two fabrics stick together? Should I go with a rayon or acetate lining instead? I'm afraid with those slippery type of linings, the skirt won't feel airy and summery.

I use cotton batiste. It's airy and comfortable. I haven't noticed the layers sticking together, but I've used it in A-line, and slimmer skirts. I imagine if you make the lining fit closer to you, the tiered skirt will float away.

I **was** on a 2008 fabric fast. My numbers have been removed (for obvious reasons) ;-)

Another vote for batiste, and in an A-line shape with plenty of ease.

I have a few RTW cotton skirts that are lined with cotton batiste and they are just fine, they do not stick together.

Thanks for your quick replies! I think I will use some cotton batiste to line the skirt. Hopefully I can get it locally and won't have to order it. I'd like to get that skirt done this weekend if I can.
