looking for light weight invisible zippers (Moderated by Sharon1952)
Posted on: 6/1/08 11:52 PM ET
When my mother in law passed I inherited her stash of sewing supplies and notions. She had some super light weight zippers that appear to be nylon mesh instead of zipper tape. Do they still make these zippers? Does anyone know where I can find these. Especially invisible zippers. These would be perfect to pants in light weight fabrics.
Thanks!
Thanks!

most invisible zips I have bought have a nylon mesh, I think that is the standard (I worked in a fabric store, that's all we sold)

Sounds like the YKK "Beulon" type invisible zippers that I have seen at Hancocks chain stores. They are very nice. (the zipper, that is)

I believe Hancock carries (or until recently used to carry) YKK zippers with translucent knitted tapes (Beulon). But I believe these are regular zippers and not invisible ones. Also Coat & Clark's invisible zipper teeth are slightly lighter in weight (and less durable) than the teeth in YKK invisible zippers.
