Hi,
I have just emigrated to calgary/Canda, fro the UK, where I made soft furnishings for myself and customers. We have just signed up to buy a lovely house, which calls out for my soft furnishings./curtains by the dozen approach!! But I am pulling my hair out, where do I shop for fashionable(ish) quality deco fabric? I have tried locally, Fabric depot, and fabric corner ( both in Calgary) and there a only a few gems I see there, where should I shop/ ebay? Mail order? Travel somewhere? Unfortunatley I need to keep to a budget too. Please help

I really just came to say hi and welcome to Canada from a denizen of that city 300km to the north that shall not be named.
There's a good variety of stuff at Marshall Discount Fabrics in Edmonton, including half a warehouse bay or so of interior deco/upholstery fabric so you might want to check it out if you happen to be in town. Other than that, I don't have much advice, because I rarely go to Calgary.

The advantage of being a beginner is, nobody has told you "That can't be done." This is also the disadvantage of being a beginner.

Hi,
Thank you for that hello, I appreciate it!
I will certainly bare Edmonton in mind, after all we need to discover all areas, so two in one!

Well, in that case the thing I can say in favour of Marshall's (nayy) is that I know of a sewing club in Saskatchewan that makes an annual pilgrimage there, so it may be worth the drive to check it out!

Try posting this same question in the "Canada sewers" section (under "Regional Communities"). There's at least one regular poster who lives in Calgary. I lived in Calgary for many years, but too long ago to be of any help to you -- sorry.

Have you been to Chintz and Co? I have not been to their Calgary store, but love the Victoria one. Prices vary greatly on the fabrics, but they do have a reduced section too.
Welcome to Canada. I am writting this from Lake Louise AB, where we are visting for a weekend.

Thank you I will try the regional sewers, and I have heard that Chintz and co are quite good- so will pop in there too. I tried Fabricland and got a few gems in their reduced section, but for 2 of the rooms i need 30metres plus, so it is hard to get remnants that size!
