I'm sewing a Renaissance fair costume for my son and I will have a purple and green fabric joined together.  This will be covered by a bias strip so ultimately it doesn't matter about thread showing on the seamline, but if I was color blocking with 2 contrasting fabrics with seamline exposed, is there a tip to choosing thread?  Thanks in advance.

Use one color in the bobbin and the other in the needle. Sew with the colors of fabric facing their matching threads.
