What type stabilizer should you use for embroidering on a onesie or t shirt for a toddler ? My local store carries solvy brand.

I've had the best results with the polymesh type for onesies and tops for children. It's very stable yet soft to the touch and not as likely as other cut-away types to irritate young tender skin, or even my skin

Choose a soft cut-away. It is mostly the stitching that is irratating. The more stops in the design the more knots on the back of the design.

After stitching, the back of the design can be covered with a iron-on tricot interfacing.

You can get just about any stabilizer, backing here - Allbrands

I buy on the Internet because there just aren't any choices at JoAnn or Hancock.

Another place I like to buy is here - ShoppersRule If there is a "make an offer" notation on the item you can get it lower than the price listed. Make a low offer and it will either be accepted or you will be given the lowest price. Sign up for their e-mail for even more member's specials. Watch for their "garage sale" for even more bargins.

Best wishes for many successful, fun projects.

This page will tell you quite a bit about the different stabalizers and there uses.
Polymesh is a common term for a no-show nylon mesh, very stable lightweight and sof to the touch.
NAYY of course.
